In recent times I have been doing a lot of work with sport’s professionals. One of the many things I love when working with such individuals is that all improvements in performance are measurable! The PCW model really helps to empower clients to discover all manner of benefits and I am amazed at how often “sports coaches” miss what to me is blindingly obvious.
Sports Coaching in Leeds
This week I accepted a new professional tennis player as a client. He had an injury six months ago and was unable to get back on track. Prior to seeing me he had been given all manner of advice, but nobody had addressed the question of his negative self talk that was radically affecting his game. Even within the first session he was able to discover a noticeable improvement in confidence. In forthcoming months we’ll work together to improve and refine his game. I’m discovering that many coaches focus too much on the visual medium asking clients “to picture X” and “visualise Y” not realising that if the client does not primarily work through the visual cortex, although the suggestions are well meaning, they are totally unhelpful!
I’m currently looking for other sports clients so I can “road test” the PCW model across a wide range of sports professionals. Everything I have witnessed to date tells me that PCW is a great way to assist such clients and it’s a pleasure to work with individual competing at an international level.
